COVID-19: Govt to completely seal areas with positive cases, untraced contacts | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNO): The authorities in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have decided to seal all those areas with any positive COVID-19 cases and untracked contacts as a precautionary measure to contain the transmission of the deadly virus. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), government's official spokesperson Rohit Kansal (IAS) in a series of tweets cited that serval areas in the UT were sealed in view of growing cases of coronavirus and some untraced contacts. In his first tweet, Rohit Kansal said, “Aggressive contact tracing of positive cases key to control spread of Coronavirus. Yesterday several areas surrounding location of positive cases or untraced contact cases had to be sealed in Jammu, Srinagar, Pulwama, Shopian, Rajouri.” In another tweet Kansal said, “This is purely in the interest of controlling spread of #coronavirus, and helping identification of contacts on real time basis. Inconvenience so caused is temporary in nature but benefits will be immense. Request all to cooperate and take it in right spirit.” District Magistrate Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary also informed through a tweet that the areas will be sealed as a precautionary measure. In a tweet he said “This is important and indispensable. With some more cases coming positive these areas will be restricted till all precautions and measures are in places.” The decisions to seal the areas and including few in red zone category came hours after the UT witnessed a surge in positive cases of novel coronavirus with 11 cases in a day on Monday and 6 more new cases on Tuesday, taking the total number of positive cases to 55 with two recoveries and two deaths so far—(KNO)
